The European Parliament has approved an agreement that extends and improves conditions for road freight transport between the European Union and Ukraine. This decision comes in the context of continued European support for the Ukrainian economy and facilitates bilateral trade. The agreement particularly concerns transport companies and logistics operators from both sides.
The agreement amends the existing 2022 agreement on road freight transport, in accordance with Articles 91 and 218 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU. Main objectives include simplifying customs procedures, increasing transport capacity, and supporting Ukraine's economic recovery by facilitating trade.
The agreement enters into force after final approval by the Council and mutual notification. Implementation will be coordinated by the European Commission together with national transport authorities. Monitoring will be carried out through regular reports on trade flows and transport efficiency.
Transport companies will benefit from expanded market access and simplified procedures. Consumers can expect greater product variety and lower transport costs. Ukrainian exporters will have improved access to the European single market. It is important for operators to familiarize themselves with the new regulations to take advantage of the benefits.
