The European Parliament has adopted a firm resolution on the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia and Belarus. The text responds to the humanitarian crisis generated by the war of aggression and aims to protect the rights of approximately 20,000 affected minors. The measure concerns all European citizens concerned about human rights violations.
The resolution is based on the UN Charter, the European Convention on Human Rights and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Main objectives include condemning forced deportations, ensuring the safe return of children and holding perpetrators of these war crimes accountable.
The resolution was adopted in 2025 and was immediately transmitted to the Vice-President/High Representative of the EU, the Council, the European Commission and other relevant institutions. Implementation requires coordination with international organizations and continuous diplomatic pressure on Russia and Belarus.
The resolution underscores the EU's commitment to protecting the rights of children affected by the conflict. European citizens can see a unified stance against serious human rights violations. National authorities must support repatriation efforts, and humanitarian organizations receive a framework for action. Ukrainian children remaining in occupied territories benefit from increased international attention.
